About me
I am an associate professor at the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. My areas of specialization are biomedical ontologies and the use of semantic web technologies in biomedicine. Being a philosopher by training I maintain strong interest into formal ontology and its potential to guide development and usage of biomedical ontologies.
My current project include:
- Organizational structures of trauma centers and trauma systems
- Drug ontologies, in particular drug-drug interactions and potential drug-drug interactions
- Biobank ontologies
- Representation of legal documents in the medical domain
- Representation of data derived from medical questionnaires
- Ethical considerations in biomedical informatics (e.g. big data)
